#EndSARS; Modupe Odele goes into exile after ‘second encounter with Immigration’

Image
Modupe Odele has proceeded on a journey from Nigeria for ‘a long time,’ she said in a tweet on Thursday morning alleging another brush with Nigerian immigration officials. “You force me to go on exile from my own country for no crime,” Ms. Odele said “I can’t visit and go as I please anymore. What a shame. I would have missed my flight if I didn’t make those calls. Because the person to do the secondary clearance wasn’t “on sit”.” Ms. Odele was traveling out of Nigeria on New Year’s Eve when the incident allegedly happened at the airport. It came weeks after she was prevented from traveling out of the country over her role in the historic #EndSARS campaign to end police brutality in Nigeria. It was unclear why Ms. Odele has been the only one being held amongst her group. Several members of the feminist groups that champion #EndSARS have been travelling without hitch. Dozens of them have been seen in Dubai and the UK since the protests ended with the Nigerian Army massacre o...

I Have Lost Faith In Buhari’s Govt, Says Arewa Consultative Forum Spokesman

Image
The National Publicity Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, Emmanuel Waye, has said that he has lost faith in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s  Politics Today on Wednesday, Waye lamented the worsening level of insecurity in the country. “How can I have faith in someone who presides over this kind of thing? I had faith in him when I followed him as a reporter and he chased away some foreigners who were coming to kill us,” he said. “When he was coming to be President, I had faith in him. I witnessed how successful this man was in chasing enemies out of our country in 1983. But now, 300 people kidnapped in his home state.” For the Arewa forum’s spokesman, fear has gripped him now that he no longer feels safe travelling to his country home in Taraba State following the frequent report of killings and attacks. “I can’t go to my home state of Taraba. The whole place is in chaos, they are killing people every ...

The lawmaker who spoke at the grand finale of sensitisation and verification of wards and local government area offices of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) in the state, explained that his earlier call for the impeachment of the President was not out of hatred or anything personal. He said it was because it was in the best interest of Nigerians. He said, “We do not hate Mr. President. He has done nothing personal to us, but we are saying that Mr. President is not fit for purpose. “If we look at our country and we do nothing and keep quiet because we are afraid, because we want...

#BISHOP KUKAH: FEDERAL GOVT SHOULDN’T MUZZLE NIGERIANS - ORTOM

Image
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom once more appeals to the Federal Government not to muzzle patriotic Nigerians who are raising genuine concerns over the worsening security situation in the country. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom describes as unfair and repressive, Federal Government’s reaction to the message of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah whom the government accused of stirring hatred against Mr President and calling for a coup.  He says Bishop Kukah is a selfless Nigerian who only seeks to unite the nation and speaks his mind frankly on national issues calling on the government to serve the people.  The Governor suggests that instead of politicizing the views of the Bishop and castigating him, the Federal Government should take a second look at the things he raised in the Christmas Day message to avoid throwing the baby out with the bathwater.  He stresses th...

Kanu, a leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, on December 12, launched the ESN, saying the regional security outfit, just like Amotekun in the South-West, would help tackle crime. "The Nigerian Army that is supposed to fight Boko Haram were seen everywhere searching for the camp of Eastern Security Network team. But they forgot they are dealing with sophisticated men. There are cameras and drones everywhere watching them," an official told Saharareporters. "If the Nigerian Armed Forces attack the ESN, the people of Southern Kaduna, the Mi...

Arewa Youths Ask Security Operatives To Arrest Bishop Kukah Over Anti-Buhari Government Comment

Image
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has described Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah’s recent statement as unguarded and an open incitement to military coup and insurrection against the democratically elected government of Muhammadu Buhari. In a Christmas message titled: ‘A Nation in Search of Vindication’, the Bishop had said Nigeria was on the verge of becoming a failed state. He said, “This government owes the nation an explanation as to where it is headed as we seem to journey into darkness. The spilling of this blood must be related to a more sinister plot that is beyond our comprehension. Are we going to remain hogtied by these evil men or are they gradually becoming part of a larger plot to seal the fate of our country?” But AYCF in a statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Kukah for what it described as a treasonable felony against the Nigerian state. The statement read, “Such a reckless stat...

It would be recalled that the House recently invited the President following a motion moved by some lawmakers from Borno. However, the President declined to honour the invitation after he had initially agreed to do so. The development led to the call by some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling for the impeachment of the President. In a statement by the Speaksperson of the House, Ben Kalu, he debunked media reports that the House apologized to the President over the invitation. “It has come to the knowledge of the House that few sections of the media reported that the House apologized to the Presidency over the resolution of the House which arose from the motion sponsored by members from Borno State, requesting for the invitation of the President to brief the nation on the state of insecu...

Kukah had said, “Every honest Nigerian knows that there is no way any non-Northern Muslim president could have done a fraction of what President Buhari has done by his nepotism and gotten away with it. “There would have been a military coup a long time ago or we would have been at war. The President may have concluded that Christians will do nothing and will live with these actions. “He may be right and we, Christians, cannot feel sorry that we h...
