Benue Police Denies Recovering Corpses In Kastina Ala Attack As Residents Insist 36 Were Killed

The Benue state police command has debunked claims that 36 corpses were recovered at a seceb in Michihe council ward of Katsina Ala Local Government Area adter an attack by militia. The state police public relations officer, DSP who  police teams were deployed on Thursday to villages in michihe to ascertain the authenticity of the news which went viral on social media that about 36 corpses being recovered at a scene in the council area.  Who arrived the scene at the area observed that they were no corpses or graves to signify any form of burial and no official reports made to the police in the area regarding the incident. It Is A Conspiracy - Friends Of Arrested Kidnap Suspect Cry Out

Some friends of arrested kidnap suspect, Terwase Agbem Paul popularly known by his peers as TAP have taken to social media to cry out over the arrest of their friend.  According to some posts on social media, his friends are speculating he was wrongfully accused and should be released immediately.  Recall that, the Benue state police command had arrested two kidnap suspects who allegedly tried to kidnap a staff of Joseph Tarkaa University of Agriculture, Makurdi. BREAKING: Suspected suicide bomber blows self in Ebonyi state

A yet-to-be identified middle-aged man suspected to be a suicide bomber blew up himself in Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi State There was confusion, uproar, anxiety in South East region as the people of Amaizu-Amamgbala in Afikpo, Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi State scampered for safety as a suspected suicide bomber was killed by the explosive he was wearing. Luckily no casualty was recorded.  Leadership reported that the incident occurred Tuesday, May 25, around 11.30am opposite campus 2 of Amaizu/Amangbala primary school. The Presidency has confirmed an attack on the residence of Professor Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, inside Aso Rock. An online platform, Peoples Gazette had earlier reported that both Gambari and an administrative officer at the Presidency simply identified as Maikano, were robbed. President Muhammadu Buhari's aide, Bashir Ahmad has taken to social media to back the attack from Kaduna state governor, El-Rufai on Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom. Bashir's Tweet Bashir in a quote tweet of Leadership Newspaper,  confirmed a statement made against Ortom by El-Rufai. Pastor Dare Adeboye, the son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Enoch Adeboye, is dead. The PUNCH  gathered that the 42-year-old, who is the third son of the revered cleric, died in his sleep on Wednesday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family. Our correspondent gathered from reliable sources in the church that the deceased, who was the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35, had ministered the previous day. NLC begs Ortom to pay 72 month pension arrears

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Benue State Chapter, has appealed to Gov. Samuel Ortom to pay the 72 months pension arrears owed retired local government workers in the state. Godwin Anya, the state NLC Chairman made the appeal in an address to mark the 2021 Workers Day, on Saturday in Makurdi. Mr Anya also appealed to the governor to implement the minimum wage for workers on grade level seven and above. The NLC chairman disclosed that the state government also owe teachers 10 months’ salary arrears, nine months of local government workers, and five months salaries of state government workers. “Non-payment of 2017 arrears of workers’ salaries has not only caused untold hardship but has dampened the morale of workers,” he lamented. Kogi Commissioner Reportedly Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen

Unknown gunmen on Saturday struck and killed a commissioner while traveling along the road in Kogi State, police said. Solomon Adebayo, Governor Yahaya Bello’s pensions commissioner, was reportedly killed while travelling to Kabba area from Ilorin on Saturday evening. Kogi police spokesman William Ayah said the assailants opened fire on Mr Adebayo’s vehicle along the road, killing him on the spot while severely wounding his driver. The police said an investigation would be carried out to track and arrest those behind the deadly assault. It was unclear whether the attackers made away with any of the victims’ belongings.  The driver, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was taken to ECWA Hospital Egbe alongside others injured in the attack.
