BREAKING: Suspected suicide bomber blows self in Ebonyi state

A yet-to-be identified middle-aged man suspected to be a suicide bomber blew up himself in Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi State


There was confusion, uproar, anxiety in South East region as the people of Amaizu-Amamgbala in Afikpo, Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi State scampered for safety as a suspected suicide bomber was killed by the explosive he was wearing.

Luckily no casualty was recorded. 

Leadership reported that the incident occurred Tuesday, May 25, around 11.30am opposite campus 2 of Amaizu/Amangbala primary school.

The huge explosion which resulted from the blast was said to have prompted residents in the area to scamper for safety.

The yet-to-be-identified man who reportedly carrying the explosive was said to have been mutilated by the bomb.

A source told The Nation that the bomber attempted to gain entrance to the Amaizu/ Amangballa primary school but was turned back by the school security.

He said:

“He made an attempt at entering Amaizu/ Amangballa Primary School but was turned back by the school security since he couldn’t justify his reason for visiting. He immediately started running inside a nearby bush before a big bang was heard.''



The Ebonyi state commissioner for internal security, Stanley Okoro confirmed the incident.

He, however, stated that he was yet to get details of the incident.
