Benue Police Denies Recovering Corpses In Kastina Ala Attack As Residents Insist 36 Were Killed





The Benue state police command has debunked claims that 36 corpses were recovered at a seceb in Michihe council ward of Katsina Ala Local Government Area adter an attack by militia.

The state police public relations officer, DSP who  police teams were deployed on Thursday to villages in michihe to ascertain the authenticity of the news which went viral on social media that about 36 corpses being recovered at a scene in the council area. 

Who arrived the scene at the area observed that they were no corpses or graves to signify any form of burial and no official reports made to the police in the area regarding the incident.



Despite the pictorial evidence, the PPRO  asked members of the public to shun rumor mongering and hate speech that creates unnecessary tension within the state while calling on media practitioners to ensure that the police channel limited resources to the right places atvfge right time.



DSP Catherine said more police operatives have been deployed to the area for routine patrols and surveillance.


Meanwhile, in a contrary report the redidmts of Shikaan Mbagena Kpace in Katsina alabhave decried the silence if the Fg over the attack and killing if innocent people by herders in the state.



Residents of Shikaan Mbagena Kpav told newsmen on Saturday that they were worried ICER the attack in their community in the early hours of Thursday even as they still maintained that a total of thirty six persons were killed as agaunf the claim of the police, lamenting their inability to receive sympathy from the Buhari led government.

A spokesperson Andrew Tom said 36 people including students of College of College were killed in the incident which stirred a lot of reaction on social media despite the government's silence over the whole scenario.


He therefore called for the serious security in the area as the rains are near so that the people will go back to third farms to avoid impending famine. Recall that the whole community has fled the area for fear of a repeated attack.
